Some raw organic materials are more easily treated through composting (aerobic process) rather than using anaerobic biodigestion. Composting enables to transform an organic waste into a dry, easy to use crop enriching agent. Compost aeration can be achieved via machinery or hand made depending on the project size. For mechanical compost turning, specialized equipments exist. Forced ventilation in silos is also an alternative for aeration.

Compost aeration via machinery

BIOTEC uses composting as it is a complementary tool for organic waste, farm biomass and sludge management. Composting organic sludge extracted from a treatment plant with dry organic waste is an excellent appropriate technology for these kinds of residues.
BIOTEC develops engineering and designs for composting plants. We implement them as “turn key”, delegated administration or concession projects. BIOTEC also brings its expertise to its client for the most adequate use of their compost (agronomical recommendations and land application).
“Prepare a good compost is an art”
The ability of composting lies in the adequate organic material combinations, the correct aeration of the compost and the rational organisation of the compost plant (minimizing transports of material inside the plant and facilitating machine and equipment access).
Applications: sugar cane residues (scum), organic sludge, sieve solids from waste water treatment plants, fruit skins, coffee residues, fat, vinasse, flower industry wastes, banana industry sub-products and empty fruit bunches from palm oil mills.
